The Spacious Home with a dash of contemporary elements, was the tag for this 5100 sq.ft house, specified by the 26 year old client. Designed by Aum Architects, this contemporary indian home design is located in Tirupati, a small temple town in southern India, the house is divided into upper and lower area.
The décor of the house reflects the comfort of a retreat, which was the prime focus for the client, who had business interest in this town. With minimum material resource in this town, our core ideas were expressed in the design of this house. Natural light were reflected to enhance the feel of an exotic resort and deleting the scorching summer heat, by using landscape buffers. Every space and room in the house were carefully designed to give a different feel within itself, without compromising the one house appeal.
The living and dining area were made to overlook through the two large windows the well landscaped terrace, at the same time having its own identity and privacy. Linking the lower and upper terrace was the prime focus, since the lower terrace area being smaller. The idea was to design the staircase being functional as well as a design element which could be enjoyed from external as well as internal spaces with a dash of water body alongside
As a god fearing client, to merge an idol with the contemporary décor, selection of material was crucial along with the location of this element. It was important for this space to be visible from most of the circulation space of the house. The 3 bedrooms needed to transform the retreat or resort feel of different ends of the world i.e.: modern, asian and renaissance period
The terrace garden with a purpose had to be worked out, a secluded space to relax as well as a place to socialize with clients and friend without disturbing one another, which is being blended with the two level separation. The flooring used in every corner of the house were made of natural marble and stones which were sourced locally with a touch of silk fabric to visually create a blend within the each space.
Sun Light and reflection in rooms with smaller terrace were passed through wooden and glass doors to create dramatic patterns on the walls and the floors. The whole project was created to turn inside out without compromising the best luxury possible.
